Is it really free?
Yes. Online Voice Recorder is free, with no account, no trial, and no paid tier. Recording, the side panel library, and on-device transcription all work the same for everyone.
Where are my recordings stored?
On your computer. Recordings and transcripts live in your browser's local storage, and finished audio files are saved to your Downloads folder. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Can it record a meeting or lecture from a tab?
Yes. Pick TAB to record the audio playing in any browser tab, or MIC plus TAB to capture your own voice and the tab together. Recording a tab does not join the call or announce itself to other people.
Does my audio ever leave my computer?
No. Audio is captured, saved, and transcribed on your device. The speech model downloads once and then runs locally in your browser, so your recordings are never sent anywhere.
What languages does transcription support?
English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Russian. You pick the language for a recording, and the text is generated on your device.
How do I get a recording back after a crash?
It is already saved. Online Voice Recorder writes audio to disk while you record, so if Chrome or your computer restarts, the recording is recovered automatically and waits for you in the RECORDINGS side panel.
